BIAX spindle and motor spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of BIAX (Schmid & Wezel GmbH) spindles and motor spindles — the German manufacturer founded in 1919, a specialist in portable pneumatic tools and deburring spindles for robots and special machines.
BIAX (Schmid & Wezel), over a century of German expertise in deburring
TLDR: Schmid & Wezel GmbH, founded in 1919 in Maulbronn, Germany, develops and produces high-precision portable pneumatic tools under the BIAX brand, with a range covering pneumatic grinders, robotic spindles, flexible shaft machines and carbide tools, manufactured in Germany and Switzerland for the metalworking industry.
Founded in 1919, Schmid & Wezel develops and produces high-precision, very high quality portable pneumatic tools known under the BIAX brand. All machines are manufactured in Germany and Switzerland and are matched to the needs of the metalworking industry. The wide range of portable BIAX pneumatic grinders offers a solution for almost every deburring task, with complementary products such as pneumatic files, pneumatic robotic spindles, flexible shaft machines, electric scrapers and carbide tools. The new BIAX RE 2860 motor spindle has recognised properties in fine mechanical machining, particularly suited to use in compact, energy-efficient systems.
A range of robotic spindles with quick tool change and axial compliance
TLDR: BIAX spindles for robots and hand-held pneumatic grinders include a position-independent quick tool change system, together with an axial compliance system that maintains constant tool pressure on the workpiece even as the tool wears down.
BIAX offers spindles for robots and hand-held pneumatic grinders fitted with an innovative quick change system, allowing tool change independently of the machine's position through a coupling in which the quick-change tool holder is clicked in and then withdrawn by pushing back the coupling sleeve, with no need to turn the machine into a specific position. The tool holder is fitted with an ER collet, available in different sizes, with a small system up to 7 mm in diameter and a larger one up to 10 mm. The BIAX axial compliance system, available with different contact pressure levels (5 to 20 N), yields in the axial direction when used with face-end tools, guaranteeing even pressure on the workpiece even as the tool wears significantly — a mechanism essential to automated brushing in robotics, ensuring high tool utilisation and a consistent surface result.
BIAX spindles and motor spindles covered (non-exhaustive list)
