Designed and built in Hamburg to demanding quality standards, Blohm grinders have been renowned worldwide for decades for their productivity, performance and accuracy, with more than 15,000 machines delivered around the world. In 2008, Blohm merged with K. Jung GmbH to form Blohm Jung GmbH, bringing together two complementary brands: Blohm for production surface and profile grinding, Jung for precision machines intended for mould and tool making, semiconductors and medical technology.
A range of horizontal and high-speed vertical spindles for profile grinding
TLDR: Blohm 5-axis CNC profile grinders can be fitted with a horizontal spindle rated up to 60 kW, or with a fixed or CNC-swivelling vertical spindle reaching 60,000 rpm, suited to conventional processes as well as CD, IPD and CBN.
The PROFIMAT series of five-axis CNC profile grinders can be fitted either with a horizontal spindle for drive ratings of up to 60 kW, or with a fixed or numerically controlled swivelling vertical spindle, with grinding spindle speeds reaching 60,000 rpm. These travelling-column machines are suited to conventional grinding work as well as to CD (Continuous Dressing) and IPD (In-Process Dressing) processes and to all processes using CBN wheels. On the PROFIMAT MT and PLANOMAT HP grinders, dedicated to aerospace, a specific configuration addresses the machining of high-strength alloys.
