Emco, one of the world's largest lathe and machining centre manufacturers

TLDR: Emco (Hallein, near Salzburg, Austria, since 1947) is one of the world's largest machine tool manufacturers, developing lathes, machining centres, milling machines and large gantry centres, with a range spanning from small diameters to very large parts.

Since 1947, Emco has been designing and building lathes, machining centres, milling machines and large gantry centres in Hallein, near Salzburg, internationally recognised for their innovative turning, milling and machining solutions. The Emco group also brings together the European manufacturers Famup and Mecof, considerably broadening the offering for general mechanical engineering, mould making, aerospace and nuclear industries. The Hyperturn Powermill range, dedicated to turn-milling of heavy parts, illustrates the manufacturer's expertise in complete machining in a single setup, with configurations able to handle parts up to 6,100 mm long, 1,000 mm in diameter and weighing up to 6 tonnes.

A range of very high-power, direct-drive spindles and counter spindles

TLDR: Hyperturn Powermill centres feature identical main and counter spindles, direct-drive, each delivering up to 84 kW and 6,400 Nm of torque, paired with a stable milling spindle for complete 5-face machining.

On Hyperturn Powermill centres, the identical spindles (main and counter) each deliver 84 kW of direct drive and 6,400 Nm of torque, enabling high-productivity turning at high cutting speed with no compromise on the second machining phase. A stable, high-performance milling spindle, mounted on a moving column within a Box in Box structure, allows complete machining on 5 faces. On the range's moving-column machining centres (developed in collaboration with Famup and Mecof), direct-drive spindles can reach 45 kW, with continuously rotating milling heads for high-precision milling, turning, drilling and tapping operations.
