Erwin Junker spindle and motor spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Erwin Junker spindles and motor spindles — the German builder of high-output cylindrical grinders, a world benchmark in automotive and aerospace grinding.
Erwin Junker, the German benchmark in high-output cylindrical grinding
TLDR: Erwin Junker Maschinenfabrik GmbH (Germany) develops, produces and distributes high-productivity cylindrical grinders, with innovative concepts such as GRINDSTAR (plunge grinding replacing turning), JUCRANK (crankshaft grinding up to 10 metres) and QUICKPOINT (compact CNC cylindrical grinding).
The Junker group develops, produces and distributes cylindrical grinders for high-output sectors such as automotive. The GRINDSTAR concept replaces turning with high-speed plunge grinding without dressing, with a process up to three times faster and availability above 96%, delivering surface qualities down to Rz 2 µm on both soft and hard applications. The JUCRANK 8 grinder can measure up to ten metres long and grind large forged crankshafts in a single clamping, thanks to a WK axis refined by Junker.
A range of internal grinding spindles and swivelling wheel spindles
TLDR: Junker grinders use internal grinding spindles reaching 16,000 to 25,000 rpm, with a workpiece spindle running from 22 to 750 rpm, and a wheel spindle that swivels on the WK axis to compensate taper errors during grinding.
On Junker CNC cylindrical grinders such as the BUAJ series, the workpiece spindle typically runs from 22 to 750 rpm, with a wheel spindle whose bore can reach 127 mm for wheel diameters of 400 mm and peripheral speeds of 45 m/s. On the most advanced configurations, two separate internal grinding spindles can be fitted to the same machine, one running at 16,000 rpm, the other at 25,000 rpm, to suit different bore diameters. On the JUCRANK 8 grinder, the wheel spindle works with the patented WK axis, able to swivel during grinding.
