Rambaudi, Italian builder of high-speed milling machines since 1945

TLDR: Rambaudi (founded in 1945, Turin, Italy, FFG group) became known for its milling machines and machining centres, and is today among the largest builders of machine tools for high-speed, high-capacity machining, serving mould making and precision engineering.

Founded in 1945 in Turin, Rambaudi became known for its milling machines and machining centres, and is today among the largest builders of machine tools for high-speed, high-capacity machining. Part of the FFG group alongside the Jobs, Sachman and Sigma brands, the company offers a range covering fixed-gantry, moving-table universal milling machines (Sara series), 5-axis milling centres with moving crossrail (RC series), as well as its historic vertical milling machines (Rammatic series). These machines serve professionals in the mould, precision engineering and aerospace sectors, with load capacities reaching up to 10 tonnes per m² on large-capacity configurations.

A range of universal and high-speed birotary milling heads

TLDR: Rambaudi milling machines use ISO 50 taper spindles, with indexed universal heads reaching 5,000 rpm for 33 kW, and continuous birotary heads reaching 24,000 rpm on the high-speed 5-axis centres dedicated to aerospace.

Rambaudi Sara universal milling machines can be fitted with an indexed universal milling head, with power ratings of up to 33 kW and rotation speeds of up to 5,000 rpm, in an ISO 50 (DIN 69871) tool holder. Tool rotation and the swivelling movements of the C and A planes are controlled by a drive spindle delivering up to 637 Nm of torque. On the RC range of 5-axis milling centres with moving crossrail, dedicated to machining moulds, models and aerospace parts, the continuous birotary head is fitted with a spindle reaching 24,000 rpm, with high torque and provision for through-spindle tool lubrication. The double offset between the C and A axes and between the A axis and the spindle helps the head reach into deep cavities.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair the continuous birotary heads of RC centres (up to 24,000 rpm)?

Yes, we work on these heads, taking into account their through-spindle lubrication system.

Do you work on the indexed ISO 50 universal heads of the Sara series?

Yes, we diagnose and repair these heads, whatever the configured torque or power.

What is the average lead time for a full overhaul?

Allow around 20 working days in the workshop, depending on the condition of the head and the availability of parts (bearings, seals, specific components).

Do you work on the spindles of historic Rammatic series vertical milling machines?

Yes, we diagnose and repair these spindles, whatever the age of the machine.

Do you offer a preventive maintenance contract for a fleet of Rambaudi machines?

Yes, we draw up preventive maintenance programmes tailored to your production pace, particularly relevant for mould making and aerospace.
