On universal grinding machines derived from Reinecker technology, the wheelhead has direct-drive spindles with power ratings of up to 11 kW, combined with a continuously swivelling B axis with positioning accuracy of ±2 arc seconds — direct drive removes the belt, minimising vibration and guaranteeing loss-free torque transmission, for grinding speeds of up to 50 m/s covering both conventional corundum wheels and CBN wheels. The workhead delivers maximum rotational accuracy thanks to precision tapered roller bearings, allowing flexible grinding between centres or in a chuck, with roundness accuracy of 0.5 µm on the inspected part. On request, the workhead spindle can be fitted with a C axis for non-cylindrical grinding.
