Stama spindle and motor spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Stama spindles and motor spindles — a German manufacturer of twin-spindle vertical machining centres, historically stemming from the production of turret heads, widely present in the production of turned-milled parts from bar stock.
Stama, German specialist in twin-spindle machining centres since 1938
TLDR: Stama (founded in 1938 by Gotthilf Stark, Uhingen/Göppingen, Stuttgart region) became known for its turret machining heads before becoming a specialist in twin-spindle CNC vertical machining centres for bar machining, with its first twin-spindle model as early as 1980.
Founded in 1938 by Gotthilf Stark, Stama first became known in the 1950s-1960s for its production of turret machining heads, before developing in 1970 its first numerically controlled turret system. After transferring part of its activities to Göppingen in 1973, the manufacturer presented in 1975 its first CNC vertical machining centre, the MC 315, at the EMO show in Paris, followed in 1980 by its first twin-spindle machining centre. This expertise in twin-spindle configurations remains the manufacturer's signature today, with machines dedicated to the machining of bars and complex parts in 5 axes (MC range), for production combining turning and milling at high productivity.
A range of spindles and counter-spindles for combined turning-milling
TLDR: Stama machining centres integrate main-spindle and counter-spindle configurations, with C axes on both spindles for complete machining of the part, rotation speeds from 36 to 10,500 rpm and power ratings of up to 32 kW depending on the model.
Stama machining centres of the MC range, dedicated to the machining of bars and complex parts, integrate hollow-taper HSK63 spindles, with continuously adjustable rotation speeds from 36 to 10,000-10,500 rpm and drive power ratings from 16 to 32 kW depending on the configuration. On twin-spindle models (Twin-Plus), a C axis is available on both the main spindle and the counter-spindle, allowing machining of the sixth face of the part without manual re-clamping. High-pressure through-spindle coolant (up to 40 bar) and tool-breakage detection devices complete the equipment of the most advanced configurations.
Stama spindles and motor spindles covered (non-exhaustive list)
- Main spindles HSK63, 36 to 10,500 rpm
- Counter-spindles with C axis, for machining the sixth face
- Twin-spindle configurations (Twin-Plus) for combined turning-milling production
- Spindles for 5-axis machining centres for bars and profiles, MC range
- Spindles fitted with high-pressure through-spindle coolant
Interfaces and specifications
The Stama spindles we repair come mainly with an HSK63 interface, with continuously adjustable rotation speeds from 36 to 10,500 rpm and power ratings from 16 to 32 kW depending on the model and configuration (single or twin-spindle).

Frequently asked questions
Do you repair the twin-spindle (Twin-Plus) configurations of Stama centres?
Yes, we work on each of the two spindles of these configurations, taking care to preserve their synchronisation.
Do you work on counter-spindles fitted with a C axis for machining the sixth face?
Yes, we diagnose and repair these counter-spindles, common on centres dedicated to bar machining.
What is the average lead time for a full overhaul?
Allow around 20 working days in the workshop, depending on the condition of the spindle and the availability of parts (bearings, seals, specific components).
Do you work on the HSK63 spindles of 5-axis centres for bars and profiles?
Yes, we diagnose and repair these spindles, whatever the configured rotation speed.
Do you offer a preventive maintenance contract for a fleet of Stama machines?
Yes, we set up preventive maintenance programmes tailored to your production rate, particularly relevant for bar-turning and turned-milled parts production workshops.
