Tsugami spindle and sub-spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Tsugami spindles and sub-spindles — a benchmark Japanese manufacturer of sliding and fixed headstock lathes, favoured in small-diameter precision turned-parts machining.
Tsugami spindles and sub-spindles equip many sliding and fixed headstock lathes dedicated to precision turned-parts machining, notably in the aerospace, automotive, medical and micromechanics sectors. Drawing on our technical know-how, we support manufacturers — in France and across Europe — in overhauling their equipment and optimising its availability. A properly maintained spindle is the guarantee of precise, repeatable and productive machining.
Tsugami, the Japanese benchmark in sliding headstock lathes for over 70 years
TLDR: Tsugami Corporation (founded over 70 years ago, Japan) is a recognised world leader in the manufacture of precision automatic lathes, with dual expertise in fixed headstock lathes for chuck work and sliding headstock lathes for precision guide bushing machining.
Founded over 70 years ago, Tsugami Corporation has built a worldwide reputation for the quality and precision of its machines. The manufacturer covers the entire spectrum of precision turning: high-precision fixed headstock lathes for chuck work, and sliding headstock lathes for machining long, slender parts with a guide bushing, with bar capacities ranging from 1 to 38 mm depending on the model. Tsugami's patented sliding headstock technology, with its stationary double structure, is the manufacturer's technical signature, guaranteeing remarkable precision even on the most complex machining operations. Tsugami lathes equip many demanding turned-parts workshops in aerospace, automotive, medical and micromechanics, where machining capacities range from 2 mm to 250 mm in diameter, for lengths of up to 3,000 mm.
A range of synchronised spindles and sub-spindles, with a high-speed milling spindle
TLDR: Tsugami Swiss-type turning centres integrate a main spindle and a sub-spindle, both fitted with a C-axis, combined on multitasking models with a high-speed milling spindle (up to 10,000 rpm) with a CAPTO interface, for high-precision simultaneous machining.
Tsugami sliding headstock lathes, such as the HS and BH series, combine a main spindle and a sub-spindle, both fitted with a C-axis, enabling high-speed simultaneous machining on both faces of the part. On the most comprehensive Swiss-type turning centres (TMU series), a dedicated milling spindle, running at up to 10,000 rpm with a CAPTO C4 interface, complements the tool turret for milling, drilling and rigid tapping operations during turning. The B-axis, generally pivoting from ±105° to ±135° depending on the model, allows this milling spindle to be oriented in numerous angular configurations. The main and pick-up spindles typically run at 6,000 rpm on these multitasking configurations.

Frequently asked questions
Do you repair the C-axis main spindles and sub-spindles of sliding headstock lathes?
Yes, we work on these spindles, taking into account their C-axis system and their synchronisation.
Do you work on high-speed milling spindles with a CAPTO C4 interface?
Yes, we diagnose and repair these spindles, used for milling and drilling operations during turning.
What is the average lead time for a complete overhaul?
Allow around 20 working days in the workshop, depending on the condition of the spindle and the availability of parts (bearings, seals, specific components).
Do you work on fixed headstock lathes for chuck work (M06, M08 series)?
Yes, we diagnose and repair the spindles of these lathes, whatever the chuck diameter.
Do you offer a preventive maintenance contract for a fleet of Tsugami lathes?
Yes, we draw up preventive maintenance programmes tailored to your production rate, particularly relevant for precision turned-parts workshops running continuous production.
