Vollmer spindle and motor spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Vollmer spindles and motor spindles — the German benchmark in grinding and eroding carbide and PCD tools, with multi-level twin-spindle machining technology.
Vollmer, the German specialist in grinding and eroding rotary tools
TLDR: Vollmer Werke Maschinenfabrik GmbH (Germany) is a recognised builder of grinding and eroding machines for rotary carbide and PCD tools, with the VGrind range offering innovative kinematics using two grinding spindles arranged vertically at the optimal centre of rotation of the C axis.
Vollmer designs grinding and eroding machines that give tool manufacturers maximum accuracy and process reliability in grinding. The VGrind range, 5-axis grinders for producing carbide tools up to 100 mm in diameter (or even 200 mm depending on the wheel pack equipment), is built on innovative kinematics in which tools are machined on two grinding spindles arranged vertically, at the optimal centre of rotation of the C axis, for high productivity and accuracy.
A range of stacked twin spindles, one high-torque, one high-frequency
TLDR: Vollmer VGrind grinders use two stacked grinding spindles, with eight HSK-50 wheel packs in total, higher torque on the lower spindle for powerful machining, and an optional high-frequency spindle for accurate machining of insert seats.
The VGrind 360S and 340S grinders use two stacked grinding spindles, each carrying four HSK-50 wheel packs (eight in total), which can be loaded flexibly and changed automatically thanks to a positively guided mechanical system. The lower spindle offers higher torque for powerful machining and a higher stock removal rate, while an optional high-frequency spindle allows accurate grinding of insert seats, with automatic changeover.
Vollmer spindles covered (non-exhaustive list)
- Stacked twin grinding spindles, HSK-50 wheel packs, VGrind series
- High-torque lower spindles for powerful machining
- High-frequency spindles for PCD insert seats
- Combined grinding/eroding spindles, VHybrid 260 hybrid machine
- Spindles of disc EDM machines, QXD series
Interfaces and specifications
The Vollmer spindles and motor spindles we repair mainly use an HSK-50 interface, in stacked twin-spindle configurations (up to 8 wheel packs) — exact specifications (rotation speeds, power ratings) to be confirmed on quotation according to the reference of your machine.

Frequently asked questions
Do you repair the stacked HSK-50 twin spindles of the VGrind 360S/340S series?
Yes, we work on both spindles, taking care to preserve their synchronisation and their shared centre of rotation.
Do you work on the high-torque lower spindle for powerful machining?
Yes, we diagnose and repair this spindle, sized for a high stock removal rate.
What is the average lead time for a full overhaul?
Allow around 20 working days in the workshop, depending on the condition of the spindle and the availability of parts (bearings, seals, specific components).
Do you work on the spindles of the VHybrid 260 hybrid machine (grinding and eroding)?
Yes, we diagnose and repair these spindles, whatever the mode used (grinding or eroding).
Do you offer a preventive maintenance contract for a fleet of Vollmer machines?
Yes, we draw up preventive maintenance programmes tailored to your production pace.
