Witzig+Frank spindle and motor spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Witzig+Frank spindles and motor spindles — the German manufacturer from Offenburg founded in 1865, a world leader in rotary transfer machines, part of the FFG group.
Witzig+Frank, more than 150 years of German expertise in large-series machining
TLDR: Witzig+Frank (Offenburg, Germany, founded in 1865 as Maschinenfabrik Martin) is, together with the historic IMAS and Pfiffner brands within the FFG group, the world leader in rotary transfer machines, offering for more than 150 years high-performance, economical solutions for high-precision machining of large-series parts.
Founded in 1865 in Offenburg as Maschinenfabrik Martin, Witzig+Frank began by manufacturing agricultural machinery before producing lathes from 1919, then rotary transfer machines (Rundtaktmaschinen) for more than 40 years. Today part of the international Fair Friend Group (FFG), Witzig+Frank is, together with the traditional IMAS and Pfiffner brands, the world leader in rotary transfer machines and rotary centres. These machines allow fully automated machining of complex components, from raw material to finished part, on a single machine, with simultaneous machining of high-precision parts guaranteeing consistent quality at every station. The flagship TRIFLEX 5X model, a 5-axis rotary machine with a sequential process across 6 stations, meets the highest complexity requirements, while the TURMAT concept (rotary transfer machine) equips very high output production lines, notably in electromobility, driveline, braking systems, engines, structural components, turbochargers and transmissions.
A range of synchronised multiple spindles for complete machining in very short cycle times
TLDR: Witzig+Frank rotary transfer machines feature several spindles distributed across the different machining stations, allowing turning, honing, measuring, assembly and inspection technologies to be integrated simply on a single machine, with cycle times for complete machining falling below four seconds.
On Witzig+Frank rotary transfer machines, the machining steps required are distributed across several stations, to which the part is automatically fed one after another, each station being equipped with its own spindle or machining head. This architecture allows simple integration of varied technologies — turning, honing, measuring, assembly and inspection — within a single machine, with fully automated machining considerably reducing unit costs. On the most productive configurations, cycle times below four seconds are achievable for complete machining of a part. On large TURMAT type installations, up to 80 CNC axes can be managed by several numerical controls, with high-power hydraulic systems (350 kW, more than 50 proportional valves) driving all the movements of the various spindles and stations.
